What counts as an API call?

An API call is an interaction with a connected workbook, such as reading its schema, running a scenario, updating approved inputs or retrieving outputs. An automated workflow or AI conversation may make more than one call while completing a task.

Reading a configured Excel table counts as one API call, regardless of how many rows are returned, up to the plan's per-request row limit. Writing data into a table counts as one API call per row written, so writing 20 rows uses 20 API calls.

All plans can connect individual workbooks to supported integrations including Claude, Zapier, Make.com, Power Automate, n8n and the REST API. Organisation-wide AI-agent capability discovery is available with Business plans, providing a governed foundation for AI-native services built around trusted Excel logic. See Integrations for current availability and connection methods.
