Finds the right model
Users do not need to know which workbook contains the calculation they need.
Governed agent capabilities
AccessEXL turns approved calculations from your Excel workbooks into discoverable capabilities that authorised AI agents can use. The workbook remains protected in SharePoint while the agent interacts only with the inputs, outputs and actions you have chosen to expose.
Users do not need to know which workbook contains the calculation they need.
Results are calculated by the approved workbook rather than generated or approximated by AI.
Agents can use only the inputs, outputs and actions the organisation has chosen to publish.
The underlying spreadsheet and formulas remain protected in SharePoint.
What is a capability?
A capability is a specific task an approved Excel model can perform, such as calculating a price, evaluating an investment or forecasting cash flow. It exposes the task and its approved inputs and outputs, not the underlying workbook.
Connect an AI tool directly to a specific workbook when you want it to work with that model alone. The connection uses an AccessEXL workbook credential and the schema configured in that workbook.
Give an agent access to the published capabilities shared with its user across the organisation's connected workbooks. The agent can discover and select the appropriate capability without the user first identifying a workbook.
Organisation-wide capability discovery requires a Business account.
From question to trusted result
Watch the workflow
Follow the connection from a natural-language question to an AccessEXL capability and a result calculated by the protected workbook.
Real product workflow
These screens show a demonstration workbook being published as a governed capability, connected to Claude and used from a new conversation. No workbook was named in the question, and Claude selected AccessEXL to calculate the answer.

Illustrative workflow
A finance team publishes a governed CAPEX-evaluation capability from its approved Excel model. When an authorised user asks an agent to evaluate an investment proposal, the agent discovers the capability, collects the required assumptions, runs the calculation through AccessEXL and explains the results.
The calculations still come from the organisation's Excel model.
Administrators decide who can discover each published capability and can update or revoke access at any time.
Visible only to its owner.
Visible to named users who have been granted access.
Discoverable by members of the organisation.
Available with Business accountsA workbook API key allows one approved integration to use one connected workbook. An Agent Access Token allows an individual user's agent to discover capabilities shared with that user. The Microsoft connection allows AccessEXL to interact with authorised workbooks in SharePoint.
AI-native services
AI-native services are designed with AI as a core part of how the work gets done. AI can gather information, coordinate tasks and prepare results, with people reviewing decisions where needed.
AccessEXL connects these workflows to approved Excel models, so your existing calculations and business rules can become reusable tools within a wider service.
Your Excel models contain valuable expertise, from pricing rules and forecasting assumptions to feasibility calculations. AccessEXL makes that logic available through controlled inputs and outputs, so authorised AI workflows can use it without giving users direct access to the underlying workbook.
AI collects the information needed for the task.
AccessEXL provides controlled access to the selected Excel model.
The workbook applies its configured formulas and business rules.
AI uses the returned outputs to draft an explanation or deliverable.
A person checks and approves the result where required.
Reliable results depend on validated models, suitable inputs and appropriate review.
Examples of services you could build with AccessEXL and your chosen AI and automation tools.
Collect customer requirements, run an approved Excel pricing model and prepare a quote for approval.
Gather assumptions, run cash-flow scenarios and prepare commentary to review with your client.
Collect project inputs, run an Excel feasibility model and prepare an assessment for a consultant to check.
Start with a fixed-fee proof of concept to demonstrate one practical workflow in your environment before deciding on a wider rollout.
