Question 1

What is AccessEXL?

Accepted Answer

AccessEXL is a secure platform that lets users, AI, automations and business applications use the inputs, outputs and calculations in an Excel model without receiving direct access to the underlying workbook.

Question 2

Does AccessEXL replace Excel?

Accepted Answer

No. Your workbook remains the modelling and calculation engine. You can continue maintaining it in Excel while AccessEXL makes approved parts of the model available to other users and systems.

Question 3

Does AccessEXL use my actual workbook and formulas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AccessEXL sends approved inputs to your connected workbook and returns outputs calculated using the formulas in that workbook. It does not recreate or approximate your calculation logic in another system.

Question 4

Where is my workbook stored?

Accepted Answer

Your workbook remains in your organisation's SharePoint environment. AccessEXL connects to it using your organisation's authorised Microsoft connection.

Question 5

What can users and connected systems access?

Accepted Answer

They can access only the ranges, tables and actions that you explicitly configure. They do not receive access to view, download or edit the underlying workbook.

Question 6

What tools can AccessEXL connect to?

Accepted Answer

AccessEXL can work with AI tools such as Claude, Zapier, Make.com, Power Automate, n8n, custom web applications and other systems that can use its API. Available connectors and setup requirements may vary (for example, Power Automate needs a Premium subscription for its HTTP connector; Make.com or n8n are alternatives).

Question 7

Do I need a developer to use AccessEXL?

Accepted Answer

Generally, no. Supported AI and automation integrations can usually be configured by a user, following the instructions in our Quick start guide and Integration API Keys page. Custom applications and direct API integrations may require development support (see our Implementation Services page if you'd like assistance).

Question 8

How much does AccessEXL cost?

Accepted Answer

AccessEXL offers Individual and Business plans, each with a monthly included quota of API calls. See our Pricing page for current plans and rates. Cancel anytime.

Question 9

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Create an account using your work email, then follow the guided setup to connect an Excel workbook stored in SharePoint. Once connected, you can use AccessEXL with supported AI tools, automation platforms, web applications or other systems through the AccessEXL API. Depending on your organisation's security settings, an administrator may need to approve the SharePoint connection.
